Manuscript Submission Guidelines

Welcome to Haven Street Publishing. We are a completely independent, sole-proprietor publishing house dedicated to bringing high-quality, impactful literature to the global market.

Because we are a lean, focused operation, we have strict guidelines for how we receive and review work. Please read these requirements carefully before submitting your project.

What We Are Looking For

We accept submissions from authors worldwide for the following formats:

  • Fiction: Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Mystery, Historical Fiction, Thrillers. We look for sharp pacing, deep character development, and a strong narrative hook.
  • Romance: Clean, closed-door romances.
  • Short Romance: For our Romance Fling line between 20k – 30k words.
  • YA and Middle Grade fiction: Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Mystery, Historical Fiction.
  • Nonfiction: Memoirs, Self-Help, History, Business. We look for unique, authoritative perspectives that offer genuine value or entertainment to the reader.

Note: We publish in both eBook (EPUB) and Print-on-Demand formats for global distribution through major channels.

We Do Not Accept:

  • Written work generated in whole or in part by ai
  • Puzzle books or activity books
  • Coloring books
  • Horror
  • Erotica

Our Editorial Standards

We believe in the power of authentic, masterfully crafted human storytelling. Every manuscript we consider undergoes a rigorous, deep-reading editorial review.

We do not use automated text scanners or third-party detector software. Instead, our review relies entirely on decades of deep literary analysis. We evaluate structural pacing, authentic emotional resonance, and unique voice. Manuscripts that rely on repetitive structural shortcuts, heavy-handed metaphors, or bloated, formulaic descriptions will be rejected during the initial screening process. We know exceptional writing when we read it—and that is the only work we publish.

Submission Requirements

To submit your work for acquisition consideration, please send an email to submissions@havenstreetpublishing.com with the subject line: Submission: [Book Title] by [Author Name].

Your email must include the following three elements as attachments or text:

  1. A Query Letter (1 page): Introduce yourself, state your book’s genre and target audience, and give us a quick, compelling pitch of the plot or core concept. Please indicate whether you are agreeable to doing book signings in your local stores and podcast interviews or not.
  2. A Detailed Synopsis (1–2 pages): Provide a complete summary of the book, including the main plot points and the ending. Do not leave us on a cliffhanger; we need to see how you resolve your story.
  3. The First Three Chapters: Attach your opening three chapters (or the first 5,000 words) as a cleanly formatted .docx or .pdf file.

What Happens Next

  • Review Timeline: Because we handle every acquisition personally alongside our active publication schedule, our review process takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Our Policy on Responses: We review every single submission that follows these guidelines. If we are interested in seeing your full manuscript, we will reach out via email. Due to the high volume of submissions, if you have not heard from us within 6 weeks, please assume that your project is not a fit for our current catalog.
  • No Commitment: Submitting your work places you under no obligation, and we do not collect or store your submission data beyond the review period. Once it is reviewed, if we are not able to move forward, it is permanently deleted from our system.
